About Me:
As an undergraduate, I passed through several majors, from Biology to Communications to Undecided. I ended up in English because at its core to study English means to think about and experience everything — human nature, the world, ideas — as they are expressed in language. What I love most about teaching at OCU are the small class sizes and the engaged, ambitious students — when you are really digging into a book with other dedicated minds, the whole world really can be in one small room.
I'm a fiction writer, so I'm always working on my own writing at the same time as I'm teaching how to think as a writer and how to work as a writer. I have published a book of short stories called The Wildflowers of Baltimore in the US and the UK, and I publish short fiction in literary journals such as American Short Fiction and Epoch.
