Mandatory COVID-19 Testing for OCU Residence Halls

Dear Students and Parents,

Oklahoma City University has added mandatory COVID-19 testing for all students who will reside in campus housing this spring 2021 semester. The requirement is a necessary health and safety protocol as we continue to work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Prior to leaving for winter break, students will receive a testing kit from their respective Resident Assistants. Students who will remain in university housing during the winter break will follow this same process. Instructions to attend a scheduled virtual appointment to perform the supervised specimen collection via Zoom will be sent out through email. Prepaid mailing instructions and envelope will be provided as part of the testing kit. As in the fall semester, residential students will also be emailed information on how to register for the virtual appointments. All testing kits must be completed by residential students on either Jan. 6, 7, or 8 and must be mailed back the same day that they are completed. Testing kits will be mailed back as prepaid overnight packages and results will be available 24 to 48 hours after tests are received. OCU will cover the cost of any mailed testing kits that are not covered by health insurance. If a student did receive a test, forgot, misplaced, or damaged their test please contact Housing and Residence Life at and they will work with the student to have a test mailed to them.

Residential students will receive an email from the Dean of Students Office by Jan. 12 indicating if they have been cleared to return to campus for move-in. Any students who test positive for COVID-19 will need to delay their move-in date for the spring semester. Adjusted move-in dates for students who test positive for COVID-19 will be provided to students by the Dean of Students Office. Additionally, any residential students who arrive without a negative test result on file will not be allowed to move into campus housing. These students will be immediately directed to the Campus Clinic for testing and may not return to campus until the negative test result is received. The typical turnaround time for processing tests through the Campus Clinic is 24 to 48 hours.
