Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status is due to the university no later than July 23, 2021, for individuals who wish to be exempt from entry and surveillance testing this fall.

Since the fall 2020 semester, the university has implemented entry, diagnostic, and serial surveillance testing of asymptomatic individuals as part of a comprehensive approach to reduce transmission of the coronavirus in our campus community. COVID-19 vaccines are widely available in the U.S. and the university continues to provide access to the COVID-19 vaccines for all members of our campus community.

The following university testing policy has been updated to reflect the current level of transmission on campus and in our local community as well as the CDC’s guidance for testing and screening for SARS-CoV-2 at institutions of higher education, which includes updated guidance for fully vaccinated individuals. University COVID-19 testing strategies are subject to change based on the level of virus transmission on our campus and/or in our local community.Additionally, in the event of an outbreak in the campus community, the university may implement targeted surveillance testing of potentially exposed individuals.

Family Health Care and Minor Emergency Clinic at OCU will continue to provide COVID-19 testing for the campus community.

Testing for Symptomatic, Exposure, or Concern

Testing for Symptomatic Individuals: Fully vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should submit to a COVID-19 test. Symptomatic individuals, regardless of vaccination status, are subject to the university’s isolation guidelines regardless of whether they submit to a test or not.

Testing Due to Exposure to an Individual who is Positive for COVID-19: Unvaccinated individuals who are exposed to an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 are required to quarantine and may submit to a COVID-19 test at the appropriate time, post exposure. Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to quarantine or submit to a COVID-19 test following an exposure to an individual who hast tested positive for the virus.

Testing for Concerned Individuals: Individuals who are concerned they may have contracted the virus may consult with a health care provider to determine if testing is necessary.
