Business school hosts high school business academy

A three-day summer academy for high school students will combine fun activities with a preview of the college experience and careers in business.

Oklahoma City University’s Summer Business Academy for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors will be held July 22-24 in the Meinders School of Business on campus with field trips to sites around the city.

Each day will offer a unique experience. “Leadership & OKC Thunder” will give students a behind-the-scenes look at the Oklahoma City Thunder’s operations and a meeting with the team’s executive leadership team. “Management & Venture Capital in Bricktown” will introduce the process of starting and managing successful businesses. “Finance & OKC Riversport” will show how Bloomberg Terminals work along with an adventurous trip to the Boathouse District to challenge its whitewater rafting course.

“The Summer Business Academy is a fun, exciting and hands-on way to learn about the world of business,” said Bob Greve, associate dean of the Meiners School of Business. “It’s also an opportunity to gain leadership skills and give an early boost to your career resume.”

Tuition is $195 and includes admission and transportation to each field trip, meals and snacks, and an academy T-shirt. More information and registration, due by July 12, is available online at okcu.edu/businessacademy.
