Oklahoma City University has named Dr. Russell Evans as interim dean of the Meinders School of Business.

Evans will begin in his new role July 1, the day after current Dean Steve Agee moves to a faculty and research position for OCU.

“Dr. Evans is an exceptional selection to carry forward the Meinders School of Business during this leadership transition,” Agee said. “He has the confidence of administrators and fellow faculty alike, along with a deep respect from the business community. I look forward to seeing his ideas and vision for the school develop and will be available for assistance as he adjusts into his new position.”

A lifelong Oklahoman, Evans has been a fixture in the Oklahoma City community for almost 15 years. Working closely with city, state, tribal and industry leaders has given Evans a unique perspective on the state.

“I’m constantly amazed at the both the complexity of the challenges facing governments and businesses and their depth of expertise at addressing those challenges,” Evans said. “I look forward to inviting that knowledge into our classrooms and sharing our unique faculty expertise with our community partners.”

Evans currently serves as professor of economics and executive director of the Steven C. Agee Economic Research & Policy Institute. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Ph.D. in economics from Oklahoma State University.

“I’m excited to begin a new chapter on the administrative side of academia,” Evans said. “Dean Agee has led the Meinders School of Business through some remarkable accomplishments, and I hope to continue his success.”
