OKC Ballet Director to Give Presentation

by Rod Jones

The executive director of the Oklahoma City Ballet will give a presentation about his organization during Oklahoma City University’s next Downtown Lunch and Learn session at noon Nov. 19. The presentation is free to the public and will be held at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation at 1000 N. Broadway Ave.

Shane Jewell has served as executive director of the ballet since 2013. Considered one of the fastest growing and ambitious arts organizations in the United States, the Oklahoma City Ballet is the resident dance company of the Civic Center Music Hall and tours as part of the Oklahoma Arts Council’s touring program. Additionally, their dance school offers classes for students looking for both recreational and professional dance opportunities. Since 2008, the organization’s budget has tripled.

Jewell graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in film theory. He was formerly the executive director of the OK Mozart International Music Festival in Bartlesville. Jewell is a featured columnist on the online arts publication The Clyde Fitch Report and is one of their top contributors. He is a graduate of the Oklahoma City Youth Leadership Exchange and OKC Connect, and is a member of Leadership Oklahoma City, Class 33. He currently serves on the Education and Programming Committee for Oklahoma Contemporary and is a member of Downtown Rotary and the Oklahoma Presenters Network.

Those who are interested in attending the presentation may register via e-mail to [email protected]. Attendees must provide their own lunch.
