Saxophone Player to Perform OCU Concert with OKC Jazz Orchestra

The Bass School of Music kicks off 2017 with a Distinguished Artists Series concert at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, featuring renowned jazz musician Bob Mintzer and the 16-piece Oklahoma City Jazz Orchestra. Mintzer is a veteran of ensembles ranging from the Buddy Rich Big Band to the legendary Yellowjackets to the American Saxophone Quartet. A longtime member of the faculty at Manhattan School of Music, he is now director of the Thornton Jazz Orchestra at USC, where he leads workshops, teaches saxophone, and instructs musicians in jazz composition. An active touring musician and recording artist, his works have been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards.
